As far back as I can remember, I realised that I didn't fit the mould. I was the quirky one, the sensitive one, the one that asked too many questions and always wanted to know "why?". The one who dreamed big.
In my early working life I tried to fit into the mainstream 9 to 5 job market, but it never seemed to feel right. I worked as a PA for my father in his financial planning business, as a legal secretary for a local law firm, and then tried my hand in real estate as support to the sales team - but I just never felt satisfied. I decided that what I really needed was a career - something that I was passionate about. I realised that I also really wanted to be my own boss.
While in an apartment in New York on holidays, I sat down and wrote out a list of all the things I was passionate about - and wondered whether any of them could become something I could turn into a business. After a bit of soul searching, I discovered that I'd always been fascinated by behaviour (whether human or animal) - and that I adored dogs - so I set about studying a Certificate IV in Dog Behavioural Training and a Diploma in Canine Behaviour, and started my business as a Canine Behavioural Specialist.
AND I LOVED IT! 12 hour days, 6 days a week. Classes, private consults, workshops, more study. I got to spend my days helping dogs communicate with their humans (and vice versa). For 17 years I was working my passion and having an absolute blast. I was truly living my best life....
.....Until I crashed. And I crashed badly. While I was busy building my business and saying "yes" to everyone and everything - I ignored the niggly health issues that appeared, and those early warning signs eventually gave way to extreme exhaustion and a burnout that bit me on the arse so hard, it pulled the rug out from under me. I eventually had to close my business to take time out to recover.
It was during my recovery time time that I heard about affiliate marketing, and what I found was that people were making $5K, $10k, and some even $20k a month by promoting products online. I signed up for a FREE Masterclass to get more information and because I wanted to do things properly (and because I'm a massive nerd :)), I then did the Freedom Affiliate Launch Course. The amount of knowledge I have gained simply by doing those courses not only satisfied my inner nerd, but taught me all of the things needed to make my high ticket affiliate marketing journey a success. I will be forever grateful for the help and ongoing support I received through doing these courses, as it made the process so easy. And I haven't looked back!
I am still so passionate about helping people, but I no longer want to work the long hours. And the closer I get to 50 (that scares me to even say that - it's only just around the corner!), the more I want balance in my life. A life where I can work and still help others - but do it while actually LIVING my life, not just working in a job I don't enjoy - or a business that leaves ZERO time for doing the other things in my life that I love (like hanging with my fur kids, travelling and exploring the world, getting my craft on with macrame and spending time with the people that matter most). While I was busy being busy - I missed out on all of those things.
Looking back, I realise that I actually wasn't living my best life. But thanks to the time and the freedom I have due to affiliate marketing, I am now. And now my mission is to help you do the same.
